Days 2 & 3

We departed Jacksonville at 5am to get to New Orleans on Friday in time to do some sight seeing on Magazine Street and a drive through tour of the garden district. We saw some beautiful homes and stopped in a couple boutiques before we boarded the trolley and headed down to Bourbon Street.

Bourbon Street felt like a different place than it's been during our last two trips to N'awlin's! [This time we weren't in the midst of a sea of Spring Break college kids or Hokie football fans!] It made us think of all the fun memories we had during our other trips down there and miss all our buddies [Tyler, Kim, the rest of the Phi Delts and Hokies we celebrated with!]

We enjoyed hurricanes and other traditional NOLA fair, plenty of laughing at crazy people, and ended the night with a long stint of dancing at a Beach themed club.

[For those of you concerned about our lodging situation, this was the Hostel We stayed at Friday night.]

On Saturday we woke up and drove to Gilmer, Texas [North East Texas] to see our old next door neighbors from Harrisonburg, the Bilbrey Sisters! [Our favorite "next door" neighbors we've ever had!] We enjoyed true southern hospitality of a large and yummy spread of food for appetizers, a dramatic production of Christine's new clown ministry as "Sparkles", a competitive game of pool baseball in googles, time catching up on the beautiful outdoor patio and an amazing steak and shrimp dinner and chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce for dessert! We miss them already and we just pulled out of the driveway!

This morning we are headed to Austin & San Antonio for more sightseeing! : ) [We are having a blast, enjoying our time together, and are excited to slow down the pace of the trip as we get a bit farther out west!]
